Features of a high quality NGO website.

NGOs around the world have embraced technology to great lengths. Many of the best performing NGOs have employed a great information technology team to ensure that their systems are well monitored. A good website is a must have if you want any NGO to perform well. Some of the features that any NGO should consider having inn their website are:

Donate button: Since NGOs make money from donations, it is important to have a good donate sign. This sign should be placed I every page. It should direct people to the page where they are supposed to make a donation.

Easy navigation :The website should not be complex in nature. The way it is built should ensure faster navigation. This should be simple to allow anybody to reach to important pages fast

Social media integration: Social media buttons which are working are a must have in a good NGO website. This is because spreading the word or message about a website is easily done using social media

Analytics: For the web master, it is important for an analytics code to be put in every page. This will be an important key performance indicator (KPI) in getting data about the number of visitors who visited the website. Details to check mostly should be: devise used in visiting the website, location, demographic and time spent in the website.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): A website for an NGO should be well optimized for the search engines. This should be done by inputting relevant values in the head, body and title sections of the website.
With all these, I know you are wondering about the price. A good designer should charge a reasonable amount of money to the NGO.

For instance, our company charges only $350 for a basic website for NGO.

Google, Bing and Yahoo do not like a mobile website. I don’t like mobile websites. Also, I hate pinching and zooming websites any time I browse. Many companies are faced with difficult situations where they find their monthly/ daily traffic reducing. A recent research published by Inc magazine indicated that most Americans don’t like mobile websites. By mobile websites, I mean the summarized website which appears any time they browse from he iPad and Smart phones. Mobile websites are intended to provide users of the mobile devices a better and customized interface to suit their device screens.
Responsive websites on the other hand are those websites which respond to any size of a device. But that is the same case with mobile websites you may ask. However, there is a big difference between mobile websites and responsive websites. To create a mobile website, a separate website from the standard website while in a responsive, there is no need for all of that. In a responsive website, a single website is made to respond and adapt to all screen resolutions from the smallest phone to the largest screens.
A responsive website has many advantages when compared to a mobile website. First,a responsive website has all the capabilities of the website while a mobile website has limited capabilities. This is because a mobile website is basically a summarized website which excludes many of the capabilities of the original website. For instance, in many news websites, it is usually possible able to perform some actions such as commenting. However, in responsive website it is possible to perform these actions.
Secondly, it is much cheaper to design and maintain a responsive website. This is because many responsive websites are created using WordPress which is a Content Management System (CMS). This means that one does not need to update content into two separate websites. The content which is input on the website is able to be viewed on all the devices. More so, one is able to update responsive WordPress website at any place using his mobile devices such as Smartphones and tablets.
Thirdly, responsive websites are more search engine friendlier than mobile websites. Google and other major search engines have endorsed mobile websites. This is because in their crawling process, it is much better to crawl on one website than two websites at any time. All websites in the internet would like to have Google as their best friend. This means that it is always important to consider all of google’s regulations than to ignore them. Also, responsive websites are preferred by many people compared to mobile websites which means that you have a wider audience if you have a responsive website.
Last but not least, a responsive website is more cheaper to build and maintain than a separate mobile website. Picture this, would you consider paying for two websites or one website? For me,I would prefer paying for one powerful website than the former. It s important to note that having a separate mobile website, it will mean that you will have to always design mobile site wen any device is launched. For responsive web design, all you need is one website to cater for all screen resolutions.
At Expert Village media, we specialize designing high quality responsive WordPress websites. Since 2010, we have had over 500 clients with over 98% client satisfaction

Responsive Website Design.

Every month we are seeing more and more devices being used to access the internet. Its not just desktops and laptop computers any more. There has been a massive growth of usage off Smartphones such as the android, iPhone and the Windows phones. Tablets like the Ipad and Samsung tablet are also playing a key role.

Imagine you are late to dinner at a restaurant and you need their phone number. When you visit their website on your smart phone, isn’t it great when you actually see that your website adapts to your device. You don’t need to pinch and zoom your way around the web page, the navigation is easier to use and their phone number is easier to find. Well, this is great user experience and shows that the restaurant cares about their customers. Every business can learn from this.

The problem

So what does this mean for your website? Well, you need to make sure that your website is easily viewable on these new devices. Users don’t want to always pinch and zoom around to view content. Here lies the problem where its not optimized for their device.

The Solution

Did you know that there was a solution to the problem which cost you your dream dress? Actually, the solution is pretty simple. The problem can be solved using one technique: Responsive Web Design (RWD).

Before I explain what RWD is, allow me to explain the fundamentals. Every month, we are seeing technology companies such as Apple, Samsung and Nokia launch various devices. These devices comes with different screen sizes and resolutions.Computer manufacturing companies are also introducing new devices on a very frequent rate.

This means that, websites must designed in such a way that they are able to be viewed comfortably with all these devices.

Wait a minute, Is my website responsive?

The truth of the matter is it is difficult to tell if a website is responsive by just looking at it in a laptop. Follow this procedure to check if your website is responsive or if it needs to be redesigned.

- Open your web browser

- Enter our website’s URL and press enter

- Once the website has loaded, press restore down

- Then try to minimize the website by pushing one side towards the other side

That’s all, if you are able to see all the content of your website, rest assured that its responsive. If not, please consider creating a responsive website design

Benefits of a Responsive Web Design -

Maintenance

It will be easier and cheaper to run one responsive website than to run two separate desktop and mobile websites.

Search engines

Google, Bing and all other major search engines have all commended and endorsed responsive websites which means that your sites will rank better.

Traffic

Your site will attract more visitors. Keep in mind that increase in visitors equals t more sales.

Competition

Responsive design is new so you have a very good chance t stay ahead of your competitors.

Future proof

Its much more adaptive to new devices which means that even if millions screen sizes are deviced, your website will always be ahead.

Mobile strategy

There has never been a better time to look at your mobile web structure. Companies that won’t do this will be left behind.

So embrace the web, embrace responsive web design

Facebook will be launching a phone called HTC First or Facebook First, not yet clear though.

There were Rumors from last 2 years that Facebook will be launching a phone, as mentioned in an article by Techcrunch on Sunday, September 19th, 2010. Techcrunch mentioned that Facebook is building a phone secretly or may be building a software for a phone same like Apple did before. Previously other tch giants like Apple and Google taken the same step by launching iphone and Nexus respectively.

Finally Facebook is all set to launch their first phone and named it “Facebook First”. Facebook invited media at an event on Thursday at their headquarter in Menlo Park, Calid and simply named it “Come see our new home on Android.”

Come see our new home on Android

The device will be likely to be more on a web side rather than call side. The features will not be like in other Samsung galaxy phones or other android phones. It will be simply to give a user more social media experience.

Probable features of the phone will be -

4.32 inch screen

1GB RAM

A 5 megapixel camera

A custom android OS created only for this phone

One most probable feature will be that the users can call other users by skype calling, if the other user is not having facebook phone.

You can call it a mobile not for calling

HTC had a partnership with the company that some of previous versions of HTC like HTC Chacha had “Facebook button”, that took users directly to the social network. Although that phone was a unsuccessful one.

Some of the leaked pics of the phone can be seen here:

HTC Facebook Phone Leaked Pics

So are you waiting for that phone? What features you imagine in that phone? Let us know by comments.

5am in morning, I just wokeup and checked out my phone for mails and all. Then I started googling for some term and saw a new icon flashing on the top bar of Google along with web, images, news and others. That was Google Nose beta. BETA, really? Google Nose?

I just started testing it and reading about it. Seems like a very interesting product of Google. According to that feature, you can search for something and then tip your nose on phone and SMELL that. The idea was to go beyond type, talk and touch, now its for senses. People can smell the searched term from phone.

The joke is over now. This was the best gag from Google till date. Google just April fooled his users by introducing a new feature and really most of the people trying it and thinking YES I CAN SMELL A ROSE FROM MY PHONE. THANKS TO GOOGLE

GET AN AWESOME WORDPRESS WEBSITE FOR JUST $299. Best WordPress Development Company

Infact Google prepared a introduction video too. Watch it here

Google has added another Prank to their APril fool prank list. Now they introduced a gmal blue. According to that, everything in gmail will be now BLUER, the compose button, reply, forward, mails everything will be blue. They says that it took them 6 years to develop this. In this time, they troied other colors too like orange, red etc. They created a introduction video to introduce this new feature. Check it out here -

Gmail Blue is the latest prank in this series. Let us know which is your favourite prank till date from Google.

The third one I found is visits from International Space Station – Control Room VISITORS. If you open your google analytics account and click REAL TIME VISITORS, you will find 41 visitors live on your website. Thats another prank in this list of Google Pranks. See the image below.

I know the topic seems old and very common about WordPress Website Security. The reason I decided to write about malware removal in wordpress websites because from last few weeks, many of our clients complained about there site being attacked by malware, injection of malicious codes in their site, hundreds of anonymous users created in wordpress backend.

The most common vulnerabilities to a wordpress based website exploits are:

- Out of Date WordPress Software: The first issue is an outdated version of wordpress software. You always get a message in wordpress backend to update the software version since wordpress moderators frequently launch updates and patches so we need to update the software timely. Its very easy, just backup all files and click update button.

- Poor Login Credentials: Many people use very common and poor login credentials like PASSWORD as a password or some name as password. Change the admin username and password, dont user name as admin which is default in wordpress. Use strong password using a password generator. Change admin url. There are some plugins available which allows you to change the url of wordpress admin panel and change username of admin.

best site security measures

Solution -You can find several security plugins for hardening the security your wordpress website. Take a look at some of them below:

- Locating the malicious codes that being injected in wordpress website files

- Removing those codes

Starting from the symptoms that shows you that your wordpress website have been hacked or some malware is there on the site.

1- Unknown users in admin panel: If you see n number of unknown users in your wordpress admin panel which you think are fake or created automatically, then it means that site being hacked and passwords are compromised.

2- A malware warning by browser -

wordpress-malware-warning-solution

How to remove this -

Usually the hackers injects the malicious code in some selected wordpress files. index.php, footer.php, header.php and sometimes in all the files of wordpress. If the code is in only the 3 files then you can clean it easily, but if the code is in all files the its a bit hard to clean.

Just check these files and delete the code. After that, you have to login to google webmasters account and submit the site for a review. Google reviews the site and then you will not see this warning of malware, if code have been removed successfully.

See the snapshot for your reference.

Hope this help you…. Share if you like it.

Thanks
